Denial Is Not A River In Egypt – The real cost of Obamacare

There's a meteor streaking its way toward the earth and will hit us in 2014.  This meteor is called Obamacare.  Whether you are a proponent of socialized health care or not one thing is for certain, it doesn't come free.  All these politics are a way to bail out the health care industry by mandating that you "must" have health insurance.  Well who does this effect, the people who are healthy and chose not to buy it because of its ridiculously high cost?  Exactly, the one’s who don’t see the value because they take care of themselves and don’t rely on the health care industry to take care of them unless they are really injured or ill.

More people will see their health care costs rise substantially if you don't think so then you are in denial.  People will see increases in deductions, annual limits, co-pays, exclusions and more out of pocket expenses along with rising premiums.  All these changes will make this new insurance too expensive for people and businesses to take advantage of due to these added cost, but think, you'll still be paying your "mandated" premiums.  This is why the "government option" was taken out of the bill; you won't have a less expensive choice. You'll pay whatever they want you to pay.

Just understand that you are being forced by a law to give your money to private insurance companies.  This bill isn't controlling the costs; it is shifting them back to us.  Again, this is just another bailout.  But in the long run you will see that we cannot keep spending money that we the people do not have, eventually we’ll go broke.  Besides, the insurance coverage isn't a good value for the money, period.

On a different note, there is a portion of the bill that allows for the creation of "accountable care organizations" (ACO's).  These ACO's allow doctors to be paid on the outcomes of individuals and not by how much billing they do in a period.  For example, if a health insurance actuary claims that it costs $12,000.00 per year to treat a type 2 diabetic the ACO's may have the chance to provide a less expensive option to the patient and be able to keep the funds saved by their treatment.  If they cannot then they would have to pay the additional cost.

Keep in mind that over 70% of health care costs come from the things we can control.  Exercise, nutrition, education, smoking and other unhealthy behaviors are well within our means to change.  Don't wait until you are whacked with unexpected charges for health care.  Take care of your health now and let those in denial pay the difference. Your greatest wealth is your health!
