Selecting Workout Menu Options
Selecting the workout option for your client is a critical step in the process. As a coach you want to be sure your client has the greatest chance at success. This means you and your client are on the same page regarding their fitness goals and objectives.
Understanding the clients level of fitness, exercise knowledge, confidence and motivation are vital to this first step. They may believe that the most difficult program is best whereas in actuality that may not necessarily be true.
Listed below are a brief description of what program(s) may be the most effective for a given situation. Each program comes in 3 levels where the amount of exercise volume changes between levels.
Foundation (Circuit) AKA Hour Glass
The Foundation program is your basic Circuit Program. It incorporates all the basic muscle groups in its protocol. This program would be recommended to a client who may be new to exercise, someone getting back into exercise or a person who is in their golden years trying to keep mobile. This would be a 1st grade or entry level program for any application.
Cross Trainer (Circuit) AKA Skinny Jeans
The Cross Trainer program is the Foundation program with the exception that the client performs a bout of cardio (treadmill, elliptical, bike,etc) between the weight training exercises. This program is an easy next step for someone who has been doing the Foundation program or suffering from diabetes or CVD.
It is also a great way to introduce a new exerciser to High Intensity Intermittent Training (HIIT). This makes an easy next step transition from the Foundation or a for a beginner with a reasonable level of physical fitness.
Bone Appetit' / Strength Builder (3-Day Split Routine)
These workouts are essential the same only with different names. The objective of these workouts are to increase strength utilizing a lower repetition, higher resistance formula. This formula also has a greater effect on stimulating Osteoblast (Bone Cells) activity to facilitate the deposition of bone.
Women diagnosed with Osteopenia or Osteoporosis would benefit along with men who want to be athletically fit. Clients new to these exercises are encouraged to purchase additional training sessions until they become competent. Great for Intermediate clients.
Simply Fit (3-Day Split Routine) AKA Simply Slender
The Simply Fit is the most logical step for those graduating from a basic circuit program. It is also a great opportunity to offer additional training support due to the complexity of the free weight exercises within the program. This program although can be used for both genders is very popular with the female client. Great for Intermediate clients.
Revitalizer (3-Day Split Routine)
The Revitalizer is a more advanced version of the Cross Trainer program. It incorporates a combination of resistance exercises interlaced with bouts of high intensity cardio. The Revitalizer like all of the EZCOACH programs can be modified to create variety in the workouts by selecting substitute exercises while designing the program.
This HIIT type of workout has a similar metabolic effect of a Crossfit style workout but with the safety of the initial assessment which prescribes the intensity and duration of each exercise.
Beach Comber (3-Day Split Routine)
The Beach Comber is an intermediate Bodybuilder workout. It is a great program for those looking to compete in a bodybuilding or figure competition. The program is designed to increase muscle hypertrophy for a full muscular look.
This program gets the best results performed along with the Beach Body Meal Plan. The advanced level of this program (Olympian) can be found in the list of Workout Options in the EZCOACH program. These workouts are recommended for intermediate to advanced exercisers.
Lean & Mean (3-Day Split Routine) AKA Femme Fatale'
This workout is the big brother of the Simply Fit. This workout is more popular with males but can be just as effective with the females. It has more exercises and total workout volume than the Simply Fit. Recommended for those who are motivated to being ultra fit.
All American (3-Day Split Routine) AKA Lady Lace
This program is not listed on the Workout Menu but can be found in the Workout Options in EZCOACH. This is a great program for those who are preparing to participate in sports (Football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, etc).
These workouts can also be modified to the specificity of each sport providing the coach understands the application of each movement. Great for high school athletes and older.
