Here it comes again! Another New Year and another resolution to lose some weight and get back to living a healthier lifestyle. We start off with good intentions but what happens? Here is what I believe is a good part of the problem, you are subconsciously programmed to fail. Don't believe me? Think about these phrases; America Runs On Donuts, You Can Have It Your Way, It's The King Of Beers, It's The Real Thing, It's Finger Lick'n Good, Pizza Pizza and so on. Too many people have fallen into the trap of craving, and are addicted to, many of the products that are keeping them from achieving a healthier lifestyle. Oh, but you are going start Monday, right?
Wrong. Let me tell you why. People who are healthy don't have to think about it, they just do it. They program themselves to not get caught up in the junk food industry's, Pavlov's dog response to classical conditioning. Healthy people are on auto pilot when it comes to choices that effect their health. They are proactive and avoid much of what their unhealthy counterparts suffer daily. They look at their health as an investment while the less healthy cohort sees it as an expense. Believe me, I've seen many "Coach Handbags" on the arms of prospects who say that exercising with a coach is too expensive. Here are 12 other reasons why most fail.
January, well it's the New Year and of course there are plenty of parties with lots of food. Not a very good start! February, got to get the chocolates for your Valentine. March, Saint Paddy's day rolls around and there are many places serving up some nice corned beef and cabbage along with a few pints of green beer. Uh oh, Summer's coming better do something fast. April, here comes the Easter Bunny and well you know what he brings, May, Mother's Day and Cinco DeMayo, two more days to celebrate and get off the healthy bandwagon. June, Father's Day and the beginning of summer. How much weight have you lost thus far?
July, Independence Day and of course all the cookouts. August, the only month that there is really nothing to celebrate except it's the end of summer and you've got to get in all you can. September, Labor Day and one more chance to enjoy the last day of summer before the school bells ring. October, aww Halloween you bought the candy to give to the kids but there's some left over or maybe the kids brought home a big bag of candy that you can dip in to. November, everybody has to celebrate with a great big serving of some of the finest food of the year. Lastly, December, company parties and Christmas. Now repeat. This is why it is so hard to stay on track.
But there is hope. And this is why this New Year you should join our Integrity family. Integrity is more than a gym. We are a team of professionals who know what it takes to get and stay healthy.
