Integrity Health Coaching for Women|What Is Coaching? Part 1

Health Coaching is the art of asking the right questions that allow the person being coached to see their situation from a different, more effective perspective.  Health Coaching influences the client to recognize why their current behaviors are producing an undesirable outcome and how to create new thoughts, strategies and behaviors to correct them.

These seemingly hard to change behaviors are why most people struggle. It is these dysfunctional behaviors that our team of health coaches focuses on first.  Einstein said it best; “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result”. Our coaches guide you in a new and different direction to produce a better result!

It is so amazing that there are health coaches and health coaching certification popping up all over the media as of late.  At Integrity Health Coaching we are thrilled that more and more practitioners are reaching out to those in need of assistance.  In reality, coaching is just that, assisting or helping someone with an issue or condition in which they may be struggling.  It is that simple.  

There are coaches all over the world.  Think of parents, aren't they coaches?  Look at all the sports we witness in the world today, each and every one of them with a specific coach. Or how about, business leaders and clergy, in one way or another they too are in some way, shape or form a coach.

The interesting part of being a coach is being skilled at the actual "thing" you are coaching.  At Integrity, we are skilled in coaching 7 very specific areas or disciplines.  

  1. Strength training - this is the art of taking a person and designing a step by step plan that will help them achieve a greater amount of strength following the completion of the plan.
  2. Cardiovascular training - this type of training that is very different  from strength training focuses on rhythmic movements that increase ones' ability to utilize oxygen during exercise and increases the efficiency of the health, lungs and vascular systems. These exercise must continuously challenge the body to adapt to new and more challenging stressors. 
  3. Flexibility - This is one of the most often avoided exercises and is so important to reducing injury and speeding up recovery after workouts.  A good coaching program will contain at least 10-15 minutes of stretching after heavier exercise activity.

Strength, Cardio and Flexibility are the physical activity movements of an effective fitness plan.  They contain a lot of doingness and good technique and application are critical to ones' success.  That is why having a coach is so important. We hear too often that a person "knows"what they are supposed to do however many make little to no changes in their attempts to improve their health.  

If you feel that you are having a tough time of it don't be bashful we are here to help you in any way we can.  After all, isn't the whole idea to get in the best shape of our lives and live it to the fullest?  

These are the first three. We will talk about the other four areas / disciplines in the next segment of the blog.  And YES food is one of those disciplines, the most important of the choices you make.  Stay tuned!
